  • Geez - there's this whole forzaminardi subculture I wasn't aware about! :o

I guess the old guys stick together to talk about old guys stuff..... ;)
  • ^ They sit around bitching about their hemroids, prostates and sexual disfunction :hehe:
  • Q, yup will ask spin to buy that lottery on her way to church. :-)

clown, 60 gigs is not that huge a loss as backed up most stuff except for the 9000 email addresses in my outlook express...drat! cannot spam any more...and btw, no hemmoroids, gout, prostates nor have any need for cialis or viagra...a little piles that's all.

salvo: who in your best info will drive our other car?

spin: yup, the hashing did us some good too, especially in getting nozie and aaliyah comfortable with the open environment in the wilds...she and the baby did pretty good out in the night at the hills amongst the mossies and snakes...
  • Dream on!

When you coming over to chase some tigers, clown?
  • thanks for the wishes, viges and p1 and everybody else...

mentioned viges and p1 particularly as we had a few trysts in the past but no offence intended, just sport. :-) and to petrolhead as well...and junior! where ARE you, junior?
  • When you coming over to chase some tigers, clown?
    Other way 'round :o

Yup Facty. It's not every 18 month old who's been running through the jungle and rivers. Just hope she wasn't too traumatised by the events on Boxing day. Give Aaliyah ( & Nozie) a hug for me.

No! Actually the hardest part is not to run.
That's what these fluffy guys with all those teeth and claws want.

You just have to stand and make them change your mind.

(I usually just start talking about my haermarroids and sexual dysfunction, that does it;))

Seriously, 9.5 inches (24cms) across the paws bodies about 2m long, aound 100 kg weight and they catch wild boars for breakfast. have you ever seen a wild boar run? They move like cannon balls. One of our girl runners got hit on both sides (glancing blows) by a group of wild pigs that charged through one of our runs. I've leapt out of the way of one.

You can't try to face those guys off.
  • You just have to stand and make them change your mind.
Kinda like how I cross the road. Just walk straight out, cars will stop, because they have to.
Its always great in the city. 50+ people waiting for the green man, and me just walking right across. Green man < Me. Its only taxi's you have to look out for. Bastards.

What the hell am I talking about. I need more coffee :P
  • Doc - away from home base so I don't have contact info - best to you and yours - fifif escaped this time but between you and me we will get that Tsunami machine invention working!

RJ sorted me on your whereabouts...

good to have all of you ferigners alive.
Yeah, we're all OK. I'm back in the land of Tsunamis.
Actually I've raised the risk from Tsunamis on lots of projects here. I've been checking tham for any reports of damage. So far, even the railway along thw coast at Butterworth near Penang seems OK. Largely protected by Penang Island.

All the offshore platforms seem to be OK as the wave is not that big in deep water. Colombo Harbour suffered some damage with one ship listing. My project there years ago suffered damage from terrorist attack in the early 90s.

Biggest problem is that people like weather forecasters think they have all the knowledge. A few years ago in China, we offered 3 hourly updated detailed information on Typhoons and faced warnings that only the Chinese met service were allowed to make predictions. Recently in Malaysia, we also had a forecaster warning people against unauthorised warnings when a big typhoon passed across the top of Malaysia. With Tsunamis you have to couple the seismic information with oceanography and a knowledge of the areas at risk.

No doubt there will be a lot of discussion now after the event.
Experts will appear out of the woodwork, politicians willclaim credit for initiatives and (nearly) everyone will become complacent again.
  • HOLY CRAP, Fifi. Glad to hear you and yours are ok, come back to us soon. :D

Forget the lottery ticket man, from the footage I've seen, I'd say most of your luck has been used up. Just sort out the important stuff dude.

  • Amazing story Fifi. Glad to hear a happy ending.

OK, enough of that. HA! busted yer cover at last, eh?!

And who's this Castleman character? You don't mean the one with the mid-life fitness crisis? The one with multiple identities who always says he's gonna come for lunch and doesn't?

Wouldn't trust 'im if I was you.

    Stay safe.
  • Glad to hear that all the people here are OK.

That is one hell of a story Facty, you are a very lucky man.

I was in Bangkok when news came through and that is the closest I ever want to be to one of those things.
  • Michael Schumacher is donating $10million - well done that man
  • gee thanks to all of you guys...your comments and wishes are real good medicine and this kind of responses to all those affected (not only to me) by the whole world must be good therapy for all those who suffered.
  • heard from my mate. He didn't go after all.

Jean Todt and Rory byrne were lucky as well. They are still with us.

In my school we had a 5 min silence on wednesday to those who didn't make it.
