  • TOPPING THE CHARTS IN SESSION 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Forza Forza!
  • GCM was here...
  • Source?

    Pics?

    Were you there?????

  • mille grazie
  • Been a long time seeing a Minardi that high on the charts on its own merits(ie. no wierd weather). Forza Minardi and Forza Rodriguez! Too bad its not in F1 but its still good.
  • Hiep hiep hoera !

So strange to see the name Minardi high on the charts while all of us were thinking it had disappeared.

    Forza Minardi !
  • Awesome :D
  • Superb!
  • Let's not forget that when we started in the lower formula 20 odd years ago we were a formidible team. I see this as getting back to where we belong.
  • Can someone tell me how much "Minardi" this team really is (appart from the name)?

Where is it based? Who are the guys? What GCM is doing?

  • From RJ's front page article:

The new Minardi team will be based in Veggiano, near Padova, more precisely in 91 Via Allessandro Volta.

As far as what GCM's role .... it is still unclear but according to Buoc he was at the test. It is, IMHO, a return to his F2 days when he ran March cars at first before building his own. This series is a Spec Car class so it won't be a "true" Minardi but his influence over the team and advice to the drivers will be invaluable.
  • Anyone else think there's quite a resemblence of Gian Carlo in Giovanni?
  • ummmm...... yeah.

Someone else's F3000 car with Minardi lending them his name makes it a Minardi now?

    riiiiight.

Of course it bloody well does! As quig said previously, prior to Minardi being a Formula 1 outfit, it was an F2 team in Italian/European racing, fielding customer chassis with young Italian drivers. This is merely a 'return to his roots' as far as I can see, and a way of Gian Carlo to keep himself involved as a mentor to young Italian drivers.

    Forza! :D

It's not 100% a Minardi, but it is closer than anything else at the moment and Giovanni, GCM's son, is the teams sporting director.
  • It's more than that - akin to his early days in F2. In this case the chassis is a spec one so it will become a Minardi "tuned" chasis etc - if that is the direction this all takes. According to Bouc the Man was at the test today so I am sure there is a Minardi "influence" not to mention that his son is the SD.
  • Perhaps this is about training Giovanni Minardi to be ready for a post-2008 Minardi Formula One birth? ;)

Personally, If Minardi can't compete in F1, i'd like to see the brand go to Le Mans. I'm sure Minardi could organise a team and build a killer LMP1 or LMP2 car.
  • Forza Minardi!

    Love those colours.

I think Brooksey is on the right lines here, prepare for F1 in 2008 with some F3000, maybe GP2 next year.

Got to say I love the Le Mans idea what say you to Minardi Maserati running a MC12 in GT1 (?) and a Challenge Coupe in GT2 (?) in the blue and yellow with a combination of younger and more experienced drivers.

also the time sheets are great!!!

    Forza:D
  • Good job Roldan!!!!!

I'm suprised to see the names of A1 drivers Basil Shabaan and Khalil Beschir on the list.
Who would give those guys a drive?????:o
  • To become a Minardi tuned chassis then some technical staff is needed. Is someone else (formely) from Faenza also involved?
  • This new Minardi team is the best news I've heard in the last year or so. When I saw the video of GCM with PM unveilign the new car I cried like a child, clapping like the fellas in the factory. It doesn't matter if it's GP2, A1, Euro3000 or any formulae, the lion and the sword are back!

Sorry for writing so little recently, but still keep an eye on this glorious site, thanks RJ for keeping it alive.
