Aston Martin

Does anyone know if FoMoCo are still trying to offload Aston? Having seen the new DBS in Casino Royale, you'd have to say they would be mad to do so. What a piece of ste of the art engineering.
One hope that any buyer will be another manfuacturer, as to develop cars of the necessary quality needs F1 type budgets.

  • They are keeping it pretty much to themselves. The last rumour I heard was that Jac Nasser was brokering a deal on behalf of some shadowy consortium.
  • Aston Martin make stunning cars, Ford would be mad to offload such a halo brand.
  • FoMoCo have probs funding Aston. Whats madness is that they're looking at offloading it to a private equity firm.
  • In everyday life my clients are the vehicle OEMs.

One of them is AM, and whilst they sell far too few cars to be worth our trouble in normal circumstances, I took the decision to take them as a client to make sure that our competitors had no part of the Ford empire to sniff at.

Said that in order to relay a small annecdote. Last year their GM of service came in from the UK and we had a couple of hours going over a few details. He then proudly showed me the cars. Now I have been in and around the car business for many years and find it hard to become interested in the cars themselves as the models fly by. So he shows me the DB9. Wanker's car thinks I. Then we go over the Vanquish. Nothing there. Then we went downstairs and looked at the V8 Vantage. Even though this is the cheapie it actually took my breath away. I have never seen a more beautiful car in my entire life. Absolutely stunning. I don't know if they will achieve their goal of pursuing the 911 with this car, but if looks alone are enough, it would win hands down.
