R.I.P. Guy Ligier

Another old oak of Formula One left us at 85.
His team was in a way one of the missed promises of Formula 1, and missed the dream to be the first French team to win the title with a French driver (Jacques Laffite was up till the last race with Piquet and Reutemann in 1981). Still, between 1978 and 1981, and then again in 1985 and 1986, the team wrote memorable pages of F1 history with Jacquot, Patrick Depailler, Didier Pironi, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, Jean-Pierre Jarier and Rene Arnoux, including the horrific crash by poor Andrea De Cesaris at Zeltweg in 1985. Then a slow decline till the last, lucky win with Olivier Panis at Montecarlo 1996, and till the sale of the team to Flavio Briatore and then to Alain Prost, who renamed it at the end of 1996.
Salut et merci, Guy, vrai homme de courses!!!
