  • So Doornbos is within a second of Albers in his first session. I think that this is what we could expect.
  • Like Kiesa and the Jordans, but not bad.
  • Albers splits the jordans.
Doornbos ends up about a second behind Albers.

Im guess that this is a reasonable performance from doornbos in his first outing in the car.

  • 2nd practice is on now

  • Albers has just clocked a 1:19:660 just ahead of the jordans
  • Doornbos 1:19.672 his fastest lap today:)

currently puts both minardis ahead of the 3 jordans
  • Are they working towards a wet race on Sunday. Is it wet now? How do you do that otherwise??
  • 1.17.9 for Doornbos.
  • I'm impressed.
Rob ended the session only 0.148 seconds behind Chris!!!!!
And in front of Monteiro and Kiesa.
  • well done:)
  • Goodjob from Doornbos!
Sad that Fisichella hit Chris, it had damaged Chris his front suspension, thats why Chris lost huge time in practice 2!
  • Nice livery !!!

Did anybody see pics of the back side of the car???
I'd like to know what sponsor is on the back of the rearwing (I suspect it to be Muermans) !!!
  • DOUBLE DUTCH DOES THE BUSINESS

HOCKENHEIM, GERMANY, July 22, 2005 – The first two free practice sessions in preparation for Sunday’s German Grand Prix at Hockenheim saw the Minardi F1 Team drivers focused on developing the chassis set-up of their cars. Christijan Albers and new team mate, Robert Doornbos, registered solid lap times from the beginning of the first session. Both drivers are familiar with the latest layout of the Hockenheimring, which requires good levels of mechanical grip on the Motodrome section combined with high-speed stability on the following straights. Doornbos, who is driving the Minardi Cosworth PS05 for the first time this weekend, had the additional task of familiarising himself with the new car. Both chassis were fitted with a new rear wing configuration, which produced good results in the course of Friday’s two sessions.

CHRISTIJAN ALBERS Best lap: 1 min 17.830 secs Position: 20th

“The morning session was fine, and we made good progress. This afternoon was not so good, since we lost track time as the result of an incident with Fisichella’s Renault. We both went off the track and his car hit the right front of mine. There’s no doubt the mechanics did a great job to repair the car so I could go out again to complete my tyre comparison runs. Unfortunately, though, the chassis balance wasn’t quite as good as it had been previously. I had hoped for a little more today, but it’s still a good solid start to the weekend.”

ROBERT DOORNBOS Best lap: 1 min 17.978 secs Position: 21st

“It’s been a good first day at the office of Minardi. I’ve been made to feel very welcome, from the time I arrived at the factory for the seat fitting, and I want to thank all the guys for their support. This morning, we tried various things with the set-up. I already had an idea about the direction in which I wanted to go, and between my Race Engineer, Riccardo Adami, and me, we found a good way of working. We made some big changes for the second session, and they worked out very well. Already, I feel very confident in the car, and I ended the session with a long stint. I’m looking forward to the weekend, and it can only get better.”

PAUL STODDART, Team Principal, Minardi Cosworth

“The first day of preparation for the German Grand Prix went extremely well. Both the drivers did an excellent job, the only slight hitch being a minor loss of time for Christijan in the second session, when he tangled with Fisichella. He was able to go back out, however, and completed his new tyre run with just minutes remaining in the second session. All in all, it was a pretty good first day, and we look forward to further improvement in the course of the weekend.”

  • you're late again...
  • Nice livery !!!
Did anybody see pics of the back side of the car???
I'd like to know what sponsor is on the back of the rearwing (I suspect it to be Muermans) !!!
Looked to me like it was KPN on the back of the wing. Looks like Muermans is on the side of the nosecone and the side of the rear wing endplates.

Also the bigger OZ Jet logos look great.
  • The boy Doornobs looks to have some game! Unlike our old friend Kiesa.
  • The new RWEP's are a nice addition. Taking a cue from Renault it looks like. Time to get the chassis working at it's best now.
  • Nice livery !!!
Too much OZJET in my taste...
  • I dont mind the livery, but it would be nice if we had a title sponsor which was actually a real company - you know, one that made (and gave us) money?

Of course, Paul owns OzJet and he owns Minardi, so he can do what he likes, but you see where i'm coming from...so long as we never become the 'Hi mum! Love Paul' Minardi.

  • How about we put a really well known company on the side , for say $1
and see the reaction it gets for that sponsor, then they might see the
value in our car. I'm sure it won't affect OzJets revenue for a month or so?

  • OzJet=Muermans. They are a paying sponsor.
  • OzJet=Muermans. They are a paying sponsor.
No I mean a big big company (top 200 in the world)
like throwing burley when fishing, seeing what you can catch?

P.S. not discounting the great efforts of Ozjet/Muermans.

P.P.S. I do love the new OzJet logo positioning on the side.

  • With this Dutch duo I think we are in for some good time!

    The first results are good.
  • A 1.16.9 by our new boy!
  • Amazing Doornbos, moving to 15th ahead of Barrichello.
  • And now Albers, 1.16.674!!!
  • I love it when our drivers spur each other on.
  • Doornbos is stopped on the track:(
