Bye Bye Toccacelo

He is no longer our Friday test driver. Financial problems caused him to jump ship to A1 as per Atlas.

Bernie - good thing you gorgot to give him the shirt at Spa .... obvously your mind was in tune with the cosmic consciouness.

  • Financial problems or good sense?

He would have figured he was no chance for next year when Red Bull took over.

I bet albers and Doornbos would like to jump ship too if they had another seat to go to.

Our drivers have really got the bum steer with this Red Bull deal....
  • Brazil preview from F1racinglive.com:
    No third PS05 for Interlagos
Brazilian GP - Minardi Cosworth - Preview

Last time out at Spa Francorchamps, the Minardi duo of Christijan Albers and Robert Doornbos did a fine job in qualification but come the wet race itself, the team found itself on the wrong tyres at the wrong time and as a result ran around at the back of the field to finish a distant 12th and 13th, two and three laps down respectively.

Generally the team have been able to challenge their main rivals Jordan Toyota this year and heading to Interlagos for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the team hope to put their Belgian performance behind them and to put in a more competitive showing.

Enrico Toccacelo has been running the third PS05 in Friday practice in recent races, but this weekend the Italian will be in action at Brands Hatch for Team Italia in the A1 GP series. The Minardi team have confirmed to us that there will be no third car in Friday practice in Brazil as a result.

The battle between Albers and Doornbos is an intriguing one as both Dutch racers are pushing each other hard and with just three races remaining before the team is taken over by Red Bull, a strong showing is more important than ever as the duo look at their options for the 2006 season.

Last year at Interlagos both Zsolt Baumgartner and Gianmaria Bruni finished the race for Minardi to record 16th and 17th respectively. Indeed, a top eight result does not come the way of Minardi very often and one has to look back to 1994 for the last eighth placed finish in the hands of Pierluigi Martini.

With three races remaining under Paul Stoddart’s ownership, the Italian team will be looking to try and end the season on a high note.
So, the team confirmed that Enrico will not drive IN BRAZIL, but it wasn't confirmed that he's out for Japan and China as well !!!!
  • toccacelo will race italy's a1gp car, that's why
  • We know, but are there A1 races on the same weekends as the Japan and China F1 races???
