  • Well done Alex.
  • Good luck tomorrow and Sunday!

  • Lets hope the momentum carries him thru the weekend! Facty - you going to be at Seca?
  • afraid not, emmet.

haven't been to a single race of alex's since his 2003 except for the malaysian races.

    :(
  • Don't know about Facty, but I'm grounded for a few weeks.

The ligament injury is healing well but I'm avoiding standing, too many stairs, and strenuous exercise till its 100%.

I'll be watching the A1 on TV and following practices on A1GP.com.

You're going? I hope Anthony will be there too. Say Hi to Alex and Ant if you get a chance.

  • Well done to Alex! I wish him all the success for sunday's race.
  • great stuff, let's hope he can keep it up for the rest of the weekend
  • Nice job. Although I´m not really surprised. I imagine he has quite some experience on the circuit.

But still, you need to do it. So well done.
  • Sentul is quite a new circuit isn't it?
  • sentul was built in 1993 i think...alex won a couple of formula asia races there in 95/95...one was winning against britain's brian saunders in very wet and treacherous conditions...

but he hasn't raced there since those days.

so, he does have more experience there other than ananda mikola.
  • Alex came 4th in the A1 Sprint behind France, UK and Mexico.

Following were Switzerland, Ireland and Netherlands.

Next for the main event in an hour.

  • Good drive by Alex.

Jos came through the field nicely; set the the Kiwi up good and proper. Christian Fittipaldi had a bit of a 'mare but he is getting quicker and hasn't been in a single seater for three years - he's warming up for 'his' tracks in the Americas.

Aussies have another new driver - Marcus Marshall?

Robbie Kerr got his first pole but was undone by the Frenchie after one lap who then streaked away - either they are the only people who can set the car up to the optimum or ...

Lapierre and Premat aren't THAT good.
  • And Alex has just borrowed a nose cone for the feature from Indonesia. Durban number two anyone? :hehe:
  • stream back up again, what a start by alex and jos!!!
  • Congrats to Alex for his 2nd and withstanding Jos - naughty 'Schumi move' on Alex in turn one but justice was done.

Another Minardi boy, Fittipaldi, was fourth on his debut.

After a great start, GB mucked up the first pitstop; am now unsure about the set-up nous and, indeed, tactical nous of my team.

Nevertheless ... this was another A1 race ruined by safety car periods, generally caused by drivers who are way out of their depth (Indonesia take a bow). I said this would be a problem before the season began and I was right - sometimes today it was like watching the Keystone Cops.

The main thing is: well done Alex and, Jos, it could've been you! I think the bottom line with Jos is he's a bit thick and can only drive one way.

  • there's this board here which gives the team and alex some great support:

  • OUTSTANDING JOB AY AND CF! I want to put a request in now for an all former Minardi podium at Laguna Seca.
  • Alex also topped the day in points with a haul of 16 from the two races. :)

Leaders France scored a total of 13 and Switzerland 12.
Jos picked up 9 overall after going off tryin to overtake Alex in the 3rd last lap.

The Canadians and Aussies would be pleased to have scored so well with the podium and 10 points and 8 for the day respectively. GB took 2nd in the Sprint and tenth in the Main Event so also scored 10 overall.

  • Thumbs up for Alex !!
  • did alex race at laguna in his CART days?
  • no, but the cork screw should titillate his wee wee quite abit...and he should go well in mexico and shanghai as he's done those before. he made a debut 9th in champcar in monterrey mexico.
  • just had a look at the full feature race on streaming... that final move by alex on jos, tough stuff... any thoughts?

  • well, alex said jos was cool about it.

my view is that jos, being a racer he is would probably had done the same alex did to ANYother driver.

anyway below are their views of the driver and team principal jan lammers.

    http://www.crash.net/news_view~t~Jos-feisty-again-~cid~83~id~125260.htm

"In the last race I really had a superb start," said Jos. "It's a shame with those safety cars, otherwise I could have driven on the first set of tyres longer. That would have also been advantageous for our second set and handling of the car in the end. And the incident with Yoong, I tried to defend, but he hit me on the right rear tyre and then I spun. Luckily I was able to go on track again. I can be pleased with sixth place in the end, considering what happened."

Despite not witnessing a podium result, Lammers was happy with progress. "We all want those positions back that we lost with that spin, but we have to be satisfied with this," said the Dutch racing veteran. "But considering the problems we had in qualifying we got maximum result here, apart from that spin. The incident between Alex Yoong and Jos just was a racing incident, I would have also gone for it."
  • Alex was fine.
  • Race incident in my opinion and most of the Jos Verstappen fans see it that way also. Jos his car was slower then Alex so he probably would have overtaken Jos anyway. Too bad he pushed Jos into the gravel, but did not do it on purpose.

Well done Sean, Alex, Marcus and Jos!
