Which Is More Important Keywords Or Content

Although search engine optimisation is complicated enough to make the average newbie’s head spin, there will inevitably be questions on the tip of most tongues when it is explained to them, some of which will be quite trenchant while others will be pretty redundant. However, one which will reoccur time and again is the following: So, if you had to choose one, which would be more important - keywords or content? And that’s a hell of a question to answer, because it really depends on how you look at it.

It is essential to have good keyword density and placement on a site if you want Google to take notice of it. If you ignore this, you cannot expect to see your site hitting the heights on a search engine. However, if you ignore the importance of quality content, you can have all of the keyword-based tricks in place and it won’t do you a fat lot of good because people will feel like they have hit a brick wall when they visit your site. They know why they’re there, but they have no idea why they would stay.

It is vitally important to bear in mind that no website can really play the SEO game without having content and keywords in just the right balance. If you concentrate too hard on keywords, your content will really drag rather than flowing like it should. If your content is Shakespearean in quality, but passes over opportunities to involve keywords, then the spiders will miss it and no-one else will get to see it.
