1996 was a season of financial difficulties for the small Italian team. The alliance with Scuderia Italia was terminated.
Pedro Lamy was comfirmed as a driver while the team lost the money from Taki Inoue. Therefore Giovanni Lavaggi and
Giancarlo Fisichella from Italy and the Brazilian
Tarso Marques took turns at sitting behind the steering wheel of the second Minardi. The best result was the 8th place of Fisichella in Montreal. The team did not score any points in 1996. The
M195B was not a new car, as it was only an evolution of the 1995 car, powered by a
Cosworth engine.
