Pedro Lamy Vicoso started his F1 career in 1993 when he raced four times in the Lotus Ford car, taking place of [[ZanardiAlessandro Zanardi]] who was injured. The next season he stayed with the Lotus team renamed Lotus Mugen Honda alongside Johnny Herbert where he also raced four times without any significant result (the best finish was 8th place in the Pacific GP). During that season he was also involved in an accident at Silverstone when his car suffered a failure of the rear wing mounting system. It was in 1995 that Pedro joined Minardi Ford where he undertook 8 races. His best place was 6th that gained him a point and the 18th spot in the drivers' championship. In 1996, he remained with the [[Faenza]] outfit where he raced in 16GPs, his best result being that of a 9th place in San Marino. In total he made 32 races, making his F1 debut in the Italian 1993 GP, and ending his F1 career in Japan in 1996 and he registered 19 finishes. His best grid position was 14th (Pacific 1995).
Pedro Lamy was encouraged by his father to take racing seriously. His father was also a motorsport enthusiast and an occasional rally driver. Pedro began racing motorbikes at 6 years old whilst at 13 he started to race karts. Apart from his F1 career, he was involved in other formulas/races. For example in 1989, he raced for the Portuguese Formula Ford 1600 where he placed first overall. In 1990 he took part in the GM Lotus Euroseries where he finished 10th but then won the GM Lotus Nations Cup. In 1991 he won the GM Lotus Euroseries with the team of Draco Racing. In 1992 he won the German Formula 3 championship. After the Minardi experience, Lamy moved to the Chrysler team ORECA partecipating in Le Mans. In 1999 he switched to the Merceded Le Mans team.
Pedro Lamy is currently living in Lisbon, Portugal.
