Born to Malaysian Hanifah Yoong and British Joanna Bean on 20 July, 1976, Alexander Charles Loong Yoong has made significant achievements in the world of motor racing.
Alex was barely four when he vowed to be a professional race driver, inspired by racing legends Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna. With unfaltering support from his family, especially his father Hanifah, a professional racer himself, Alex began his racing career with motorcross bikes at the age of eight.

In 1992, at 15 years of age, he entered his first car race, driving a Proton Saga to victory. His first taste of international race came a year later, when he raced in Macau and took third in class (Ghia race). Alex took his racing career a step further in the 1994 Formula Asia International Series 2000 where he won the last round in Zhuhai, China. With eight wins, he became the Vice Champion and Malaysian Champion in 1995. Thereafter, Alex moved out of Asia and proceeded to Europe, beginning with the British Formula Renault Sport Championships between 1996 to 1997, and then with the British Formula 3 Championships between 1998 to 1999. In 1999, Alex also raced in the Italian Formula 3000 and the International Formula 3000 Championships.

The year 2001 marked a turning point in Alex's fortune. He left Formula Nippon, which he had been attached to since 2000, to join the [[European]] Minardi F1 team in July 2001. With sponsorship from [[Magnum]] Corporation and the strong support given by the Malaysian government, particularly the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Alex had his sight firmly set on Formula 1.

After a successful two-day test at the Mugello Circuit in [[Faenza]], Italy, in August, this ambitious young man was granted a Formula 1 Super-license by the world motorsport governing body, FIA (The International Federation of Automobiles). He not only became the first Malaysian, but also the first Asian non-Japanese Formula 1 driver in nearly half a century since Prince Bira of Thailand, who raced in the early 50s. Since his qualification for the Formula One World Championships, Alex competed in the last 3 races in 2001. He also went on to do [[http://www.supplementstoweightloss.com/ best weight loss]] the whole season in 2002 with Minardi, achieving a highest position of 7th at Melbourne, Australia. He finished 13th in Brazil, 10th in France and 13th in Italy. Alex also finished second in Monaco's Historic F1 Grand Prix in the same year.

On the 10th of January 2003, baby Alister was born to proud parents Alex and Arianna. He weighed in at 3.1kg and has since been steadily getting stronger and louder.
