  • SIX DAYS ON THE ROAD

LEDBURY, ENGLAND, August 30, 2006 – The Minardi F1x2 Team has just completed a very busy six-day programme, which saw the spectacular Formula One two-seaters take part in a successful two-day programme at the Hungaroring, last Wednesday and Thursday, before returning to the UK for a guest appearance at the famous Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting, on August Bank Holiday Monday.

In the course of two days at the Hungaroring, drivers Zsolt Baumgartner and Chanoch Nissany provided 40 passengers with high-speed rides around the 3.975-km circuit, which was the scene of the exciting Hungarian Grand Prix just over three weeks ago. After departing Budapest last Friday, team members then had the briefest of breaks before making their way to the leafy environs of Cheshire, where one of the Ledbury-based team’s fleet of eight F1x2 cars was due to carry out a demonstration run at the Oulton Park event.

Driving duties on this occasion were handled by Belgium’s Bas Leinders, who completed a spectacular three-lap run in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The former Minardi F1 Team test driver is familiar with Oulton Park, having visited the challenging northern track on numerous occasions in the mid-1990s, while contesting the British Formula Ford Championship.

“It has certainly been a hectic few days, but they have also been very rewarding days in terms of the number of passengers we have carried and the reactions we have had from the passengers to their first experience of Formula One performance,” comments Minardi F1x2 team owner, Paul Stoddart. “As ever, I think we get almost as much enjoyment out of staging these programmes as the passengers do from participating in them, and we look forward to continuing to bring the sights and sounds of Formula One to the widest possible audience.”

On that note, the Minardi F1x2 Team will shortly be making several exciting announcements concerning future events
