Good stuff so far, Albers could have nipped Webber at the start but got stuck on the outside of the track.

Very good race by Albers so far

what is wrong with Friesacher I don't know. He lost 8 seconds to albers in just 4 laps

    I don't get why albers didn't catch up with monteiro during the sc phase. he's still 5 seconds behind him

    Look at the bright side - looks like Christijan will have a (relatively) good qualifying slot in the USA.

    Christ! That is the type of race if a team like Minardi can't take advantage of the opportunity you have to wonder what the point is. I kept looking every time one of the half of the grid fell away and nothing.
    We desperately need Monteiro to retire now
    Nothing personal P1, but the patheticness of that statement after the effort made this season is just sad.

    Yesterday it seemed that BAR was back, but today they fell down again !!!!

    Good job also by Massa and the Red Bulls !!!!

    Sad that he wasn't able to overtake Monteiro cause he was very very close after the safetycar, i think they choose to finish the race then overdriving the car, but it's good that it was just:hehe: 10 sec at the end.
    It was great to see that the whole team was giving Albers a standing ovation when he arrived the pits at the end of the race for his great work this weekend, Stoddart said that there was nothing more in the car that Albers have showed in the race.

    In a Canadian Grand Prix full of incident and mechanical carnage, the Minardi F1 Team recorded its best result of the 2005 season, Christijan Albers taking the chequered flag in 11th position and recording some competitive lap times in the process. Team mate, Patrick Friesacher, also ran strongly from the start, but his car suffered a loss of hydraulic pressure soon after the second of his scheduled pit stops, and he was forced to retire on lap 39. Like a number of drivers, Albers took advantage of the Safety Car deployment on lap 47, diving for the pits to take on sufficient fuel to finish the gruelling 70-lap race. The Team comes away from the Canadian Grand Prix weekend encouraged by its performance both in qualifying and in the race, and now looks forward to next weekend’s United States Grand Prix – an event that last year yielded a World Championship point for the Faenza squad.

    CHRISTIJAN ALBERS
    Position: 11
    Time: 1 min 18.462 secs Chassis: PS05/01
    “I’m happy with the result of today’s race. We had a good pace and good lap times, and it was a little bit of a shame that we had a pit stop followed by a blue-flag situation, as I think that’s where we lost position to Jordan. We had a better pace in the early stages of the race, so it was a bit frustrating to finish behind them. I was really fighting hard at the end, but it was just not possible to pass Monteiro. Even so, I think it was a good result for the team, and a good qualifying performance yesterday. Now it’s maximum attack for Indianapolis, where we’ll go for it again”.

    PATRICK FRIESACHER

    Time: 1 min 18.709 secs Chassis: PS05/02
    “I think we suffered with the tyre choice we made this weekend, as Christijan was on the harder tyres and I was on the softer compound. I had a really good start, and was right behind him, but I couldn’t push as hard as I wanted to, as the car had quite a lot of oversteer in it at that point. After the second pit stop, I started to lose the power steering, and it was pretty clear there was a hydraulic problem”.

    “Without doubt, today’s race was Minardi’s strongest so far this year, with a gutsy performance from Christijan to finish in P11. Sadly, Patrick retired on lap 39, with a power steering failure, which resulted in a loss of hydraulic pressure. There’s no question but that there is still performance to come from the PS05, and we now look forward to next weekend’s race, in Indianapolis”.

    The qualification run is getting results but then we dump them at the start of the race.

    + we didn't beat monteiro.

    let's hope for a better result at Indianapolis.

    Yesterday's result was not bad, but not flying high either.

    Race didn't live up to quali - shame we didn't beat both Jordans into submission. Paddy made ground at the start and then lost it. Congrats to Chrissy.

    Elsewhere: Alonso lost his rag, for a change. I don't think he was quicker than Fisico but Renault would've engineered some leapfrogging in the second pit stops.

    Button fluffed his main chance and JPM really must calm down. Not world champ material but I still love him.

    Errr, well done (gulp) TOIT and also Massa - he deserved a break.

    Nice to see that I was completely wrong about Albers, his fuel load was equal to that of Friesacher. Besides, our loads, while relatively light, were respectable. This makes the qualifying performance of Albers look very good...

    Quite a lack of overtaking opportunities on this track. Perhaps they should do something about it.

    I did however notice that Heidfeld's lump expired on him whilst he was in a strong position. Did you notice that too?

    While we're on the subject of the Constructors Championship standings can anyone explain why Minardi are shown in 10th place BEHIND BAR after they have been disqualified from a race then taken a 2 race ban?

    Because there are points that are not points. If I finish 10th and you 11th I score the invisible "finish position" points. In case of a tie at the end of a season and or a situation where no points are scored the FIA will add up average finish position and that is what settles it.

    I don't think it's the average but quig is right, one 10th place beats many 11th places.

    Bahrain Grand Prix
    Tiago Monteiro Jordan-Toyota 10th

    European Grand Prix
    Jenson Button BAR-Honda 10th

    Canadian Grand Prix
    Christijan Albers Minardi-Cosworth 11th

    Therefore Jordan 8th, BAR 9th and Minardi 10th.
