2009 FORZAMINARDI.COM CHALLENGE - ROUND 01 - AUS (27-29 MAR 2009)

2009 FORZAMINARDI.COM CHALLENGE - ROUND 01 - AUS (27-29 MAR 2009)

2009 FORZAMINARDI CHALLENGE: RULES:

1.0 Predict the following exactly and gain points each round:
a. Pole getter - 2 point (pole getter is defined as the one who is on pole
when the race is started)
b. Winner of GP - 4 points
c. Second in GP - 3 points
d. Third in GP - 2 points
e. Fourth in GP - 1 point
f. 1st car out after the race has started under the green lights whether
through DNF or DNS (through stalling for eg.) or through DQ (by black flag
for eg.) - 1 point (point given even if DQ is appealed)
g. Name the ex-minardi driver, excluding Alonso, who finishes in the highest
position in the race amongst all ex-minardi drivers - 2 points

All predictions above must be EXACTLY correct. Should any driver pull out
before the race weekend, his replacement is not automatically substituted in
the bets...the bettors MUST exercise the edit right as provided in clause 6
two days before race day (e.g. if race day is on Sunday, final edit right is
day-stamp of post Friday).

2.0 Prize for the winner with most points at end of season:
a. the glory of being the season's Forzaminardi.com champion...plus whatever additional prize R-J
or the others may want to throw in. :-)

3.0 The organisers are manlio27 and FactyCrab.

4.0 The qualifying and race results first published by formula1.com will be
used to judge the bets placed. No appeal to organisers' decision which is
final.

5.0 If the organisers cannot make a decision, they will consult R-J and/or
Neil_s and/or Minardi4eva who shall act as referees.

6.0. All bets must be submitted in the above 1.0 a to g order and must be
submitted before the first quali session start. Any bets submitted after the
first quali starts will be invalid. All bets MUST be in by before the first
quali but no editing of any bets placed can be done after the end of friday
practices (or in the case of Monaco after Thursday's practices). This is
because when a post is edited, there is no time stated when such edits have
been done. it just says which date the edit was done.

7.0 DQ means disqualification during the race. so any disqualification
resulting from not starting the race does not fall under this description of
DQ.

8.0 Any additional rules can be added to aid clarity but not to change the
bets format and the points as and when deemed neccessary.

9.0 The referees of this 2008 ForzaMinardi Challenge are FactyCrab, manlio27,
Forzaminardi, Neil_s and Minardi4eva (if Neil, R-J, Facty and 4eva agree). A majority decision
from these 5 is required to settle any dispute. If the dispute concerns the
referee's bet, then the other 4 referees must adjudicate and arrive at a majority
decision.

  • PistonBroke hits the lead for the first ever time in his life.
After coming last in the 2008 standings - how short lived
will this unexpected lead be? I'll bet about 24 hours!
    (A bit like Jenson's I'll assume) :(

  • wow, i'm a true expert!
  • Facty.....Sorry bud, you've got most scores wrong. Best ex Minardi was actually Fisi (after Trulli got demoted), and Jumpey also had Rubens in 2nd place which you didn't give him points for.

UNLESS rule 4.0 comes into play, in which case all but Jumpeys scores are correct
  • Thanks, Minardi4eva.

I personally think rule 4.0 should be in play as sometimes demotions/DQ by the FIA ars*holes after the podium ceremony or after the first published results are not justifiable (by we laymen views)...maybe Trulli's demotion this time is justifiable but not all post-race decisions made in the past are reasonable.

But, I nevertheless, leave this to the decision by the majority of the referees here. Any objections?

Score of Jumpey has been amended above...sorry, Jumpey.
  • Hi facty

I'm a little confused (as per usual);)

As far as I can see I should just get 2 points for Rubens 2nd
It was a shame that Trulli got the penalty, but it seems to have been decided quickly enough after the race.

What results are you using ?
  • My thoughts on what happened and will happen:
    a) Brawn GP was great partly because of a great job done by Ross, Nick and the team in the planning and set-up of the car, and partly because of the diffusors that probably really give an advantage; but their advantage did not seem so enormous, I predict a great season!
    b) in Paris, the FIA World council will uphold the Australia (and Malaysia) results, but will either ban the Toyota-Brawn-Williams diffusors, or make them officially ok, so the other teams will immediately join, and the original values will be partly re-established;
    c) concerning our table, we should take into account Trulli's disqaulification, as it occurred immediately after the race, and we have the precedent of Belgium '08.
    d) should the FIA World Council in April reverse the Australia and Malaysia results (very unlikely) we will discuss what to do.

Considering the above, our table is as follows:

2009 Results After Rd. 1 AUS
    Pos/Overall Pos 2008/Name/Rd. 1

    1. 2. Minardi4eva 4
    2. 3. JumpeySpyder 3
    3. 11 PistonBroke 2
    4. 5. Factycrab 0
    4. 6. SuperRoo 0
    4. 8. Manlio27 0
    4. 9. Steamdrivenhammer 0
    4. 10 Neil_s 0
    4. 1. Stan 0
    4. 4. Telstar 0
    4. 12 forzaminardi 0
    - 7. Minardifan2002 -

I kindly ask R-J, Neil, FactyCrab and Minardi4eva to give their opinion on the matter. If we reach a majority on this proposal, we will confirm this table (subject to unlikely changes following the FIA World Council decision).

For a joke, in view of next year, let's also make a table with the medals....:-)

At the moment, it's like this:
    1. 2. Minardi4eva 1 0 0
    2. 3. JumpeySpyder 0 1 0
    3. 11 PistonBroke 0 0 1

Let's see if, at the end of the season, it will correspond to the table given by the points:-) :-)
  • Manilo....as far as i can see regarding the diffusers (and someone correct me if im wrong) is that the FIA have already ruled that the diffusers they were using are legal for Aus and Malaysia. No matter what the FIA decide to do, wont affect the points scoring for the first two races. So their points (and the ForzaMinardi points) wont be affected.

Regarding Trulli and rule 4.0, i think its a tough one. For me, i'd say Fisi is top ex Minardi, because Trulli wasn't disq, he was given a stop go penalty which knocked him down the order and we knew something about this before the race had finished. BUT the rules state first results published is what we go from.

My vote would be for Fisi, but if we do this, the rule 4.0 needs to be changed.
  • 4.0 The qualifying and race results first published by formula1.com will be
used to judge the bets placed. No appeal to organisers' decision which is
    final.

I think there is only one word that need to go and this is "first"

Rule 4 should read like this:
4.0 The qualifying and race results published by formula1.com will be
used to judge the bets placed. No appeal to organisers' decision which is
    final.

In my opinion, the best ex Minardi was Fisichella.
  • And my pick for Malaysia is:

    Pole: Button
    1st: Button
    2nd: Massa
    3rd: Barrichello
    4th: Kubica
    1st Out: Buemi
    best ex Minardi - Trulli
  • I also think that
    1.0.g should change

"g. Name the ex-minardi driver, excluding Alonso, who finishes in the highest
position in the race amongst all ex-minardi drivers - 2 points"
    I would remove EXCLUDING ALONSO

"g. Name the ex-minardi driver, who finishes in the highest
position in the race amongst all ex-minardi drivers - 2 points"
  • ok, guys, i submit to minardi4eva's and neil_s' suggestions to changes to rules 1.0g and 4.0.
  • I agree with Neil_s It seems fair to remove 'excluding Alonso' from 1.0.g

I can also see merit in removing the 'first' from rule 4.
but maybe there should be a time limit to enable a fair chance for any reasonable penaltys / stewards decisions
but without us having to wait weeks for any crazy appeals process etc

    e.g.

4.0 The qualifying and race results as published 3 hrs after the event by formula1.com will be
used to judge the bets placed. No appeal to organisers' decision which is
    final.

Judges have a think, as I don't want you to have to get up in the middle of the night just to check if the final results stands.
